Kollam, Kerala: In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking, the Kollam Excise Range Office seized 6.05 kg of ganja during a targeted operation in the Mekon Shivaji Mukku area.
The operation, led by Excise Inspector P. Sankar, intercepted a car used to smuggle the contraband, which was intended for local distribution.
The accused, 33-year-old Alshad S., son of Shahjahan, residing at Noufal Mansil in Ayathil, was arrested on the spot. A case has been registered against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Excise officials revealed that Alshad is a key operative in an inter-State drug network, primarily transporting illegal substances from Tamil Nadu-based syndicates into different regions of Kerala. Investigations are ongoing to trace other members of the syndicate and curb further drug distribution.
