In a shocking development, Kolkata Police have apprehended two men from Odisha in connection with the murder of Rahul Lal, whose body was discovered at a hotel on Park Street. The suspects, Shashikant Behera and Santosh Behera, were detained in Sambalpur.
Investigators revealed that Lal, who had a prior history of theft and fraud, may have been involved in smuggling operations. Preliminary findings indicate that he was strangled, possibly over a dispute concerning a valuable stolen artifact. Authorities are interrogating the suspects to uncover the motive and potential accomplices.
Evidence recovered from Lal’s personal belongings pointed police to Odisha, where he allegedly intended to sell a recently acquired artifact. Law enforcement officials are now focused on recovering the artifact and identifying other participants linked to this crime.
The suspects will be brought to West Bengal under a transit remand, and investigations remain ongoing to piece together the full extent of the criminal network.
