BLOUNT COUNTY, Ala. (WBRC) — Kody Smith, 30, of Hanceville, was arrested by the Blount County Sheriff’s Office on the evening of May 29 in connection with an undercover child exploitation operation.
Authorities have charged Smith with multiple serious offenses, including:
Human trafficking
Sex offenses involving minors
Electronic solicitation
Traveling to meet a child to perform a sexual act
The arrest was part of an ongoing undercover investigation aimed at targeting individuals involved in the exploitation of children. Smith is currently in custody as law enforcement continues its investigation.
The Blount County Sheriff’s Office has not released further details, but confirmed that additional charges or arrests may follow as the case develops.
