A man was arrested Friday evening after a wrong-way crash on Interstate 580 near Glendale Avenue, according to Nevada State Police.
At approximately 7:30 p.m., officers responded to reports of a blue Subaru driving south in the northbound lanes of I-580. About a minute later, the Subaru collided with two other vehicles. Fortunately, the drivers of the vehicles involved sustained non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.
Investigators later revealed that the Subaru had been reported stolen before the crash. After the incident, the driver, identified as Kody Dempsey, allegedly attempted to steal another vehicle. Witnesses said Dempsey tried to flee several times before being restrained by bystanders.
Dempsey was taken to a hospital and later booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility. He faces multiple charges, including DUI, grand larceny of a motor vehicle, attempted grand larceny, failure to stop at an accident, failure to render aid, possession of a stolen vehicle, obstruction, and failure to drive properly on a divided road.
His bail was set at $525,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on Friday, March 21 at 9 a.m.
