In a series of major drug busts, Kochi city police seized 105.95 gm of methamphetamine from Cheranalloor and 12.9 gm of MDMA from Ravipuram on Thursday.
The methamphetamine was recovered from Nithin (37) of Chavakkad, Thrissur, who allegedly trafficked large quantities of synthetic drugs from Bangalore via courier for sale in Ernakulam.
The MDMA seizure involved Anshid (29) from Perambra, Kozhikode, and Ameer (42) from Velam, Kozhikode. Ameer, who runs a lodge in Ravipuram, and his associate Anshid were reportedly selling MDMA to local users from the lodge premises.
The operations were carried out by the Kochi DANSAF team, led by Narcotic Cell Assistant Commissioner K. A. Abdul Salam, under directives from Kochi City Police Commissioner Putta Vimaladitya.
Earlier on Wednesday, the police seized 140.03 gm of charas near Pachalam Peter Corea Road. Arfeen Vincent (20), from Pachalam, Ernakulam, was arrested for trafficking charas from Himachal Pradesh to sell to youth in the city. Authorities are investigating his accomplices and tracing buyers linked to the drug trade.
These operations highlight the city police’s intensified crackdown on synthetic drug and charas trafficking in Kochi.
