In a series of major drug seizures in Kochi, city police recovered 105.95 gm of methamphetamine from Cheranalloor and 12.9 gm of MDMA from Ravipuram on Thursday.
The methamphetamine was seized from Nithin, 37, of Chavakkad, Thrissur, who was reportedly trafficking large quantities of synthetic drugs from Bangalore via courier for distribution in Ernakulam.
Those arrested for MDMA possession were Anshid, 29, from Perambra, Kozhikode, and Ameer, 42, from Velam, Kozhikode. Ameer, who runs a lodge in Ravipuram, was allegedly selling MDMA along with Anshid, targeting customers around the lodge.
The operations were conducted by the Kochi DANSAF team under the supervision of Narcotic Cell Assistant Commissioner K A Abdul Salam, following directives from Kochi City Police Commissioner Putta Vimaladitya.
Earlier, on Wednesday, police seized 140.03 gm of charas near Pachalam Peter Corea Road. Arfeen Vincent, 20, from Pachalam, Ernakulam, was arrested for trafficking charas from Himachal Pradesh to sell locally. Investigations are ongoing to trace his accomplices and customers.
