MOMBASA, KENYA — Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested two suspects in connection with a brutal robbery with violence that occurred in the Majaoni area of Kisauni, Mombasa.
According to the DCI, a gang broke into a home around midnight, where they shot the homeowner in the ribs, then fled with a 75-inch Hisense TV, two mobile phones, and other valuables. The victim later died while undergoing treatment at the Coast General Hospital.
Following the deadly attack, DCI detectives launched a forensic-led manhunt. The first suspect, identified as Chigamba, was arrested in Kinango with one of the stolen phones in his possession. His accomplice, Hassan, was later apprehended in Mombasa town.
Both suspects are currently in custody and are being processed ahead of their arraignment in court. The DCI also confirmed that efforts are underway to track down additional suspects believed to be involved in the robbery.
“Both suspects are in custody, undergoing processing pending arraignment, as detectives pursue additional leads to bring the accomplices still at large to book,” stated the DCI.
