In Dhule district, Maharashtra, police arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with the murder of a tribal villager under Pimpalner Police Station on Tuesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Dattu Gavli of Hanumant Pada, Rainpada in Sakri taluka.
Incident Details
Police said the accused, Kisan Sable, was speaking to a 20-year-old woman at her grocery shop around 9:30 pm when Gavli, the woman’s uncle, passed by. Gavli reportedly warned Sable to leave the shop and not return.
Fifteen minutes later, Gavli returned and found Sable still present. During the confrontation, Gavli suffered internal head injuries and later died after being taken to a primary health centre.
Arrest and Investigation
Assistant Inspector Kiran Barge of Pimpalner Police said that after the incident, Sable fled to another village but was tracked down and arrested by Thursday afternoon.
The Pimpalner Police have registered a case under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The investigation is being conducted under the guidance of SP Shrikant Dhivare.
Background
The woman at the shop is a nursing student from Kalwan who had returned home on leave.
The accused, Sable, is pursuing post-graduation in Nandurbar and had also returned to the village recently.
