
DUBLIN, Ohio (WOIO) — Former Ohio State football player Kirk Barton, 40, has been arrested and charged with aggravated vehicular homicide following a deadly crash in Dublin early Saturday morning.
According to city officials, Barton was driving his pickup truck at a high rate of speed when he collided with a Lexus on West Bridge Street just before 3 a.m. The driver of the Lexus, 24-year-old Ethan Perry, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Barton suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. After treatment, he was taken into custody by Dublin Police and booked into the Franklin County Jail on the pending charge.
Barton, a standout guard at Ohio State, was selected by the Chicago Bears in the seventh round of the 2008 NFL Draft.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and additional details may be released as the case progresses.
