In a shocking case of family violence over land dispute, the Keonjhar police have arrested Kiran Das (45) and his son Satyajit Das (20) for the alleged murder of Kiran’s younger brother Chandrasekhar Das (43) in Putulia village, under Padmapur gram panchayat.
According to police sources, a heated argument broke out between the two brothers around 4 PM on Wednesday at their residence. The fight, reportedly over a long-standing land dispute, turned violent when Kiran and Satyajit attacked Chandrasekhar with a crowbar and an axe, causing severe head injuries.
Chandrasekhar was rushed to Dharanidhar Medical College, Keonjhar, in a critical condition but succumbed to his injuries. Doctors declared him dead on arrival due to excessive bleeding from the head wounds.
Upon receiving the alert, Sadar police station officers arrived at the crime scene and registered a case of murder. The weapons used in the attack were recovered from the spot.
On Thursday morning, police brought both accused to the scene of the crime along with a scientific investigation team. The investigation is ongoing.
IIC Amit Kumar Bhuyan of Sadar police station confirmed the arrests and recovery of the murder weapons. The body was sent for postmortem at the Keonjhar District Headquarters Hospital before being handed over to the family.
This gruesome incident has shocked locals, shedding light once again on the dangers of unchecked property disputes within families.
