KINSTON, N.C. — The Kinston Police Department’s B-Squad held a checking station on Queen Street on Friday, March 14, which led to multiple arrests for drug possession and traffic violations.
Authorities reported that several violations were addressed during the operation, including driving while license revoked (DWLR), expired registrations, and drug-related offenses. Among the significant arrests made were Andrea McCoy, 50, and David Taylor, 57, both from Lenoir County.
During the checking station, McCoy was found operating a vehicle without a registration plate. Authorities, deploying the department’s K9 Loki, discovered cocaine in the vehicle after the dog alerted to the presence of narcotics. McCoy was arrested and transported to the Lenoir County Jail on a secured bond. McCoy had also been arrested earlier in January for drug possession.
Meanwhile, officers initiated a traffic stop on David Taylor after observing a motor vehicle violation at the checking station. During the stop, officers noticed narcotic violations, leading to a further investigation. Taylor was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession with intent to sell/deliver methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and resisting a public officer.
This operation underscores the Kinston Police Department’s ongoing efforts to address drug trafficking and keep the roads safer for residents. Authorities are continuing to investigate both cases and anticipate further action as the legal process progresses.
