A Kingston woman with a lengthy history of drug-related arrests has once again been charged with felony narcotics possession, according to Ulster County jail records.
Meredith S. McSpirit, 29, was arrested by the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday, Sept. 18, and turned over to Kingston police on an active bench warrant. She now faces two felony counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, in addition to misdemeanor charges for criminal use of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance.
McSpirit is being held in the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $2,000 bail.
Her latest arrest adds to a series of drug-related charges stretching back nearly a decade. In January of this year, McSpirit and Anthony N. Harding Jr. were arrested following a six-month investigation by the Ulster Regional Gang Enforcement Narcotics Team (URGENT), which focused on crack cocaine and cocaine sales in Kingston and nearby areas. McSpirit was charged with five felony counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance, four felony counts of criminal possession, and four counts of conspiracy. She also faced a misdemeanor charge for criminal use of drug paraphernalia.
Authorities say that investigation began in July 2024 after receiving multiple complaints about drug activity in the town of Kingston. The outcome of that case has not been publicly disclosed.
McSpirit first drew public attention in August 2015 when she was the driver in a crash in Saugerties that killed four young men. While she was cleared of criminal responsibility in the fatal wreck, she has been arrested on drug charges at least four times since that incident.
The Ulster County Sheriff’s Office has not commented further on the ongoing investigation into McSpirit’s most recent charges.
