FRESNO, Calif. — A Kingsburg man, Roman Espino, 37, was arrested following an armed robbery at Tri-Counties Bank in Delano that resulted in the theft of approximately $72,000, authorities said.

On July 11 at around 3:45 p.m., Delano police responded to reports of an armed robbery. Officers said Espino threatened bank employees with a firearm and demanded money before fleeing the scene in a white GMC Terrain.

Using a license plate reader, police quickly identified and tracked the vehicle. With assistance from the Dinuba Police Department, the vehicle was located in Dinuba, where officers arrested Espino.

Search warrants were executed at homes linked to Espino in Dinuba and Kingsburg, as well as on the suspect’s vehicle. Authorities recovered a significant amount of cash bundled with Tri-Counties Bank currency bands, along with a pellet pistol.

Espino was booked into the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Justice Receiving Facility and faces charges related to the robbery.
