Kimberly Rowland Arrested for Stolen Jeep Theft in Circleville

Police Recover Vehicle After Surveillance Identifies Female Suspect

by Amelia Crawford

CIRCLEVILLE, OH — Circleville Police recovered a stolen 2014 gray Jeep Cherokee early Tuesday and arrested Kimberly Rowland following a reported car theft outside the Berger Health and Wellness Center on North Court Street.

The vehicle was reported missing around 2:30 a.m. on June 4 after the owner discovered it gone at the end of her shift. She had parked the Jeep at the wellness center around 9:00 p.m. on June 3 and confirmed it was still there during a break at 11:00 p.m.

Surveillance footage from the facility captured a female suspect matching Rowland’s description entering and driving off in the Jeep around 11:10 p.m. The footage showed her wearing black boots, white socks, jean shorts, and a gray shirt with curly black hair. However, police required a subpoena to obtain a copy of the video.

Later that morning, officers were dispatched to a Pearl Street residence after a social media post alerted the community about the stolen Jeep’s location. Rowland was found sitting on the porch and taken into custody. She admitted to driving the vehicle, mistakenly believing it belonged to her sister.

Police confirmed the Jeep was stolen via the LEADS system. The owner verified the vehicle had no visible damage; it had been left unlocked with keys, purse, and $25 inside.

Rowland was charged with theft and transported to Pickaway County Jail. Investigators are collecting witness statements and seeking additional surveillance footage to assist the ongoing case. All responding officers were equipped with body cameras.
