CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – Kim Scott, Cleveland’s Chief City Planner, was arrested on Wednesday and is now facing a fifth-degree felony theft charge, according to court records.
The City of Cleveland confirmed that Scott has been placed on unpaid administrative leave following the arrest.
Court documents allege that on or around May 27, Scott falsified paperwork under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) in order to illegally obtain 117 hours of paid time off. The hours, according to officials, were improperly claimed and constitute theft from the city.
As of now, further details surrounding the alleged fraud and events leading to the arrest have not been publicly released. 19 News is continuing to investigate the circumstances.
