A man has been sentenced to prison following the fatal stabbing of 24-year-old Robert Tyler-Jones in Cuffley earlier this year.

Kieran Roche, 30, appeared at St Albans Crown Court on 18 December 2025, where he was sentenced to three years and seven months in prison after being convicted of manslaughter.

The court heard that the incident took place on 23 April 2025 at Roche’s home on Station Road, Cuffley. During an altercation, Mr Tyler-Jones, who was from Northaw, was stabbed and suffered fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Roche was arrested the following day by officers from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit.

Detective Sergeant Steve Boddy, who led the investigation, said he hoped the outcome would bring some comfort to the victim’s loved ones.

He said the sentence sends a clear message that knife crime will not be tolerated and thanked officers for their dedication in securing justice in the case.

Welwyn Hatfield Chief Inspector Pete Frost also offered condolences to Robert’s family and urged the public to report concerns about knife crime. He reassured residents that information can be shared anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers.

In a heartfelt tribute, Robert’s family spoke of their devastating loss, describing him as a much-loved son, brother and partner. They said their lives have been permanently changed and pledged to honour his memory every day, ensuring he is never forgotten.
