Kanpur Dehat police successfully rescued a speech-and-hearing-impaired woman after her abduction and arrested the suspect, identified as Lala (40), son of Baburam from Hariyarpur village, Sikandra police station area.

The incident occurred on Monday afternoon in Thathiya when the woman, accompanied by her mother to the fields, was forcibly taken by Lala, who arrived in a loader. When the mother intervened, Lala pushed her aside and fled with the woman. Villagers attempted to block his path using sticks and bushes, but he drove over them, escaping toward Khairnagar.

During the cordon operation, Lala attempted to flee into a nearby jungle and opened fire on the police team. Officers returned fire, hitting him in the leg and capturing him on the spot.
