A 17-year-old has been arrested after police say he shot a man during an incident at a southwest Atlanta apartment complex on Valentine’s Day.

Authorities identified the suspect as Kez Crenshaw, who is facing charges of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a person under 18.

According to police, officers responded around 6:15 p.m. to an apartment complex in the 260 block of Peyton Place SW after receiving reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Emergency responders transported the victim to Grady Memorial Hospital, where officials say he is expected to recover.

Investigators believe the victim had gone to the residence to speak with his girlfriend. Authorities said the woman refused to meet him and he was told to leave the property. When he did not leave, police allege that Crenshaw—who is a member of the girlfriend’s family—shot the man.

Following the incident, Crenshaw was taken into custody and later booked into the Fulton County Jail. The investigation remains ongoing.
