ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Authorities have arrested a fourth suspect in connection to a deadly shooting that claimed the lives of two young men in Rocky Mount earlier this month.
On Monday, the Rocky Mount Police Department confirmed the arrest of 19-year-old Keyvonte Keyshawn Tyson, who has been charged with first-degree murder. Tyson was taken into custody on Baber Court and is now being held at the Edgecombe County Jail with no bond.
Police say Tyson was involved in the shooting deaths of 19-year-old Ryo Steele and 20-year-old La’Ren Dickens. The victims were found on July 13 at Martin Luther King Park on Virginia Street, both pronounced dead at the scene.
The fatal shooting was one of three that occurred that weekend in Rocky Mount, though police believe the incidents are unrelated.
Tyson joins three other individuals previously charged in the case. Devonte Dales, 22, was charged in Steele’s death, while Bernard Smith, 27, and Trevion Scarboro, 70, face charges in connection with Dickens’ killing.
Rocky Mount Police say the investigation remains ongoing.
