ATMORE, Ala. (WKRG) — A routine traffic stop in Atmore turned into a drug bust after police arrested Kevin Lonnie Case, authorities confirmed.

According to an Atmore Police Department (APD) news release, officers stopped Case for illegal window tint, but he did not pull over immediately—eventually stopping at a dead-end street.

When Case refused to allow a vehicle search, K9 Bama was deployed. The police dog alerted to the presence of narcotics, prompting officers to search the vehicle.

Inside, police reportedly found two grams of methamphetamine, one morphine pill, four loaded and used syringes, a digital scale, marijuana residue, and plastic baggies with residue.

Case was taken into custody and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Authorities credited K9 Bama’s alert with helping uncover the drugs and making the arrest possible.
