NORTH LIBERTY, Iowa (KCRG/Gray News) — Authorities arrested 56-year-old Kevin Lane Grimm after he allegedly stole and attempted to sell $60,000 worth of medical equipment from the University of Iowa’s new health care campus construction site.

Grimm, a contractor working on the project, was taken into custody and booked at the Johnson County Jail on Tuesday. He faces charges including ongoing criminal conduct, theft, and other related offenses.

Court documents reveal that Grimm exploited his access as a contractor to steal medical construction equipment over several months while the facility was being built in North Liberty. He allegedly advertised the stolen items as “new” on online platforms like eBay and Facebook Marketplace, selling them at discounted prices.

Some of the stolen devices are restricted by the Food and Drug Administration, requiring possession only by licensed doctors or individuals under direct physician supervision.

Authorities stated Grimm continued selling the stolen equipment up until his arrest.
