In a major crackdown on interstate drug trafficking, the Rachakonda Special Operations Team (LB Nagar Zone) and Abdullapurmet Police arrested two men and seized 20 kg of Hashish Oil worth Rs1.2 crore in Hyderabad on Wednesday.
The accused have been identified as Pangi Keshava Rao alias Kesha (40), a resident of Alluri Sita Ramaraju District, Andhra Pradesh, and Jairam Khemundu (26), hailing from Koraput district, Odisha. Police also seized ₹870 in cash and three mobile phones during the operation.
According to Rachakonda Police Commissioner G. Sudheer Babu, Hyderabad was being used as a key transit route by the duo to transport drugs procured from Andhra Pradesh and Odisha to buyers in Bengaluru.
The investigation revealed that Krishna, an absconding drug supplier from AP and a childhood friend of Keshava Rao, introduced him to the narcotics trade, promising huge profits. Jairam Khemundu joined the illegal operation through Krishna as well.
The suspects purchased Hashish Oil at low cost from Krishna and sold it in Bengaluru at nearly ten times the price. Authorities noted that about 35-40 kg of Ganja is required to produce 1 kg of Hashish Oil.
Two days before the arrest, a buyer from Bengaluru placed an order for 20 kg of Hashish Oil. The accused collected the order from Hukumpeta in Alluri Sita Ramaraju District and arrived at Hyderabad’s outskirts to complete the delivery when they were apprehended.
Keshava Rao had also been previously arrested in a narcotics case by Anakapally Town Police in Andhra Pradesh.
