
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas – Two suspects were arrested in New Caney this week after being caught in the act of stealing thousands of dollars’ worth of copper wire, according to the Montgomery County Constable.
Deputies responded to a report of a possible metal theft near Grand Parkway and FM 1485 East, where a witness spotted a suspect loading copper wire into a red Toyota Camry.
When officers from Precinct 4 arrived, they found Kerry Crenshaw Jr., 35, actively stuffing wire into the back of the vehicle. He was arrested on the scene without incident.
A second suspect, Danielle Brown, 31, attempted to flee on foot into a nearby wooded area but was quickly apprehended.
According to the Texas Department of Transportation, the stolen copper wire was valued at approximately $5,000, with an additional $10,000 in damage done to electrical infrastructure.
Crenshaw faces charges of felony theft of metal, while Brown is charged with the same offense as well as misdemeanor evading arrest.
Constable Rowdy Hayden praised the alert citizen who reported the activity, stating,
“Copper theft disrupts lighting and safety systems and puts our community at risk.”
