After a year-long investigation, police arrested Methil Punathil Shajeel, a native of Purameri, in connection with a fatal hit-and-run case in Vadakara, Kozhikode district, Kerala. The incident resulted in the death of an elderly woman from Thalassery and left her nine-year-old granddaughter in a coma.
Shajeel was apprehended on Monday, February 10, 2025, upon his arrival at Coimbatore airport from Dubai, following repatriation procedures. He had been evading the authorities since the accident.
The police continue their investigation into the case as the victim’s family awaits justice.
