In a significant crackdown on narcotics in Kerala, excise officials arrested three key members of an interstate drug network near the KSRTC bus stand in Alappuzha. The arrested individuals have been identified as Rinas from Mannanchery, Ananthu from Thrissur, and Appu from Ernakulam.

Authorities seized 2.2 kg of cannabis, 1.1 kg of hashish oil, 4 grams of methamphetamine, 334 MDMA pills, along with Rs 63,500 in cash and five mobile phones. Officials revealed that the trio was transporting drugs from other states into Kerala, using virtual numbers and a “drop system” to avoid detection. Local agents facilitated discreet deliveries to buyers.

In a separate operation, police intercepted 22-year-old Joel George from Puthenvelikkara at North Paravur with 46.55 grams of MDMA. Joel had reportedly travelled from Bengaluru to Aluva by train to distribute the drugs.

Authorities emphasized that the operations highlight ongoing efforts to curb interstate drug trafficking in Kerala. Investigations are ongoing to trace the broader network behind these narcotics.
