Keonjhar police arrested a man and his son on Wednesday for allegedly murdering the man’s younger brother in Putulia village under Padmapur gram panchayat.
The accused have been identified as Kiran Das (45) and his son Satyajit Das (20), while the deceased was Chandrasekhar Das (43).
According to sources, a land dispute between the brothers escalated into a violent quarrel around 4 pm at their residence. During the altercation, Kiran and his son attacked Chandrasekhar with a crowbar and an axe, inflicting severe head injuries.
Chandrasekhar was rushed to Dharanidhar Medical College in Keonjhar in critical condition but was declared dead due to heavy bleeding.
Police from the Sadar police station arrived at the scene, registered a murder case, and seized the weapons used in the attack. The body was sent to the Keonjhar district hospital for postmortem before being handed over to family members.
On Thursday morning, police along with a scientific team took the accused to the crime scene as part of the investigation. IIC Amit Kumar Bhuyan confirmed, “The accused were arrested and the weapons seized.”
