BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — A 22-year-old Birmingham man has been arrested in connection with a deadly shooting that claimed the life of a 20-year-old earlier this month.
The Birmingham Police Department announced the arrest of Kenyardus McCall in the killing of Eric Clayton.
Officers responded to a report of a person shot in the 400 block of Lawson Road on Friday, Feb. 13, at approximately 7:32 p.m. When they arrived, police said they found Clayton suffering from a gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire & Rescue transported Clayton to UAB Hospital, where he died the following day, Feb. 14.
McCall was taken into custody at police headquarters and charged with murder. Authorities said he is being held without bond and will be transferred to the Jefferson County Jail.
