A 37-year-old man, Steve Swanson, was arrested in Kennewick on December 17 after officers discovered him sleeping in a stolen vehicle.

Kennewick Police responded to a welfare check at around 6 p.m. on North Ely Street, where they found Swanson in the vehicle. Upon investigation, it was determined that the vehicle had been reported stolen.

To safely observe Swanson, officers deployed a drone. After he woke up, Swanson cooperated with the officers’ commands and was subsequently arrested.

He was booked into Benton County Jail on charges of auto theft, possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, and trafficking stolen property.
