A Moore County man, Kenneth Sheffield, 41, of Sneed Road, was arrested on September 2 after authorities linked him to a stolen vehicle and a break-in at an occupied home while attempting to evade law enforcement.
Deputies from the Moore County Sheriff’s Office were actively searching for a stolen vehicle reported on August 29 when they spotted Sheffield in the Eagle Springs area. Sheffield fled from deputies but was later identified as the suspect involved in the vehicle theft.
During his escape, Sheffield forced his way into a nearby residence, which was occupied at the time, before fleeing again. He was apprehended shortly after by officers.
Sheffield now faces multiple felony charges, including breaking and entering a motor vehicle, larceny of a motor vehicle, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, altering or removing a vehicle’s serial number, breaking and entering, and misdemeanor injury to real property.
He is currently held at the Moore County Detention Center under a secured bond of $6,000. Sheffield is scheduled to appear in Moore County District Court on September 25.
As with all defendants, he is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
