BUNA, Texas — A Vidor man was arrested after allegedly attempting to steal the phone of the mother of his child and causing bodily harm during the incident.
Jasper County deputies responded around 5 p.m. Saturday to a robbery call at the Little League Ballpark in Buna.
According to Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard, 21-year-old Kenneth Phelps struck the woman several times with a closed fist to the left side of her face while trying to take her phone. The attempt was unsuccessful.
During the investigation, Phelps himself contacted authorities to make a report, after which he was arrested and transported to Jasper County Jail on a second-degree felony robbery charge.
