KAMLOOPS, B.C. — Kenneth Hockley, 27, was sentenced to 10 months in prison after being convicted of possessing ammunition while prohibited, following a trial in B.C. Supreme Court.
Hockley was arrested on February 28, 2024, while walking along Tranquille Road. Police detained him due to his involvement in an unrelated investigation. During the arrest, officers found 76 shotgun shells in Hockley’s fanny pack, violating a weapons prohibition that had been imposed on him the previous month. This prohibition came after he was caught with a loaded rifle in a separate firearms offense.
Prosecutors described the quantity of ammunition as “extraordinary.” B.C. Supreme Court Justice Dennis Hori imposed a 10-month sentence, which will be counted as time served since Hockley has been in custody since his arrest.
Despite this sentence, Hockley remains in jail awaiting sentencing on additional charges, including theft over $5,000, possession of stolen property over $5,000, and driving while prohibited. He is scheduled to appear in Kamloops Provincial Court for sentencing on August 8.
