WESTFIELD, Ind. — Kenneth Guy has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal drug overdose in Westfield.
According to the Westfield Police Department, Guy faces a Level 1 felony charge of dealing in a controlled substance resulting in death, which carries a maximum prison sentence of 40 years.
The investigation began on January 27 when officers responded to the 500 block of Fayette Drive to assist an unconscious man who was not breathing. Despite lifesaving efforts, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene. The death was later ruled an overdose.
Westfield Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit determined that the suspected narcotics involved in the case had been brought in from Chicago. Investigators identified Guy, who was residing in Hammond, as the alleged dealer.
Working alongside the Hammond Police Department, authorities executed an arrest and search warrant Tuesday in the 7300 block of Van Buren Avenue. Guy was taken into custody with assistance from the Hammond Police SWAT team.
During the search, officers reportedly recovered multiple cell phones believed to have been used to arrange drug transactions, drug packaging materials, suspected narcotics, and approximately $1,500 in cash.
Guy was transported to the Lake County Jail, where he will remain until extradition to Hamilton County.
