In a targeted anti-narcotics operation, police in Namsai district of Arunachal Pradesh arrested 45-year-old Sarana Yoya for alleged drug trafficking.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a team led by SDPO Kengo Dirchi carried out an operation in the Trolley Line area of Namsai on Thursday, following due legal procedures.
Based on disclosures made during the operation, police conducted a search and recovered approximately 133 grams of heroin, valued at around Rs7 lakh. The contraband was packed in 11 plastic soap cases and concealed in nearby bushes.
The seized substance was weighed, marked, sealed, and confiscated in the presence of independent witnesses. The accused was taken into custody, and a case under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act has been registered at Namsai Police Station.
Police reiterated their zero-tolerance policy against narcotics trafficking and appealed to the public to share credible information to help combat drug-related crimes.
