Kem Mays Arrested for Burglary at Senior Facility

62-year-old stole jewelry in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, Del. — Delaware State Police arrested a 62-year-old man for burglary and theft after he allegedly stole jewelry from a resident of a senior living facility.

Kem Mays, of Wilmington, was taken into custody following an incident on February 15, 2026, at Forwood Estates, located at 1912 Marsh Road. Troopers responded around 10:30 a.m. after a theft was reported.

Investigators said the victim had left their apartment around 8:30 a.m. Shortly thereafter, Mays, an employee of the facility, allegedly entered the apartment without permission and removed jewelry.

Police contacted Mays during the investigation and recovered the stolen items, which were returned to the victim.

Mays was arrested without incident and transported to Troop 1 Delaware State Police. He was charged with:

Burglary Second Degree (Felony)

Theft Under $1,500 Where Victim is 62 Years or Older (Felony)

He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on a $12,000 unsecured bond.
