FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. (WPDE) — A Florence man was arrested Tuesday morning in connection with a major gun store theft involving more than 20 stolen firearms.
According to Chief Deputy Tommy Sullivan of the Florence County Sheriff’s Office, 26-year-old Kelvin Anderson Mitchell was apprehended near McLeod Regional Medical Center on East Cheves Street. His arrest followed an investigation into two break-ins at Reloaded Gun Shop on Second Loop Road in Florence.
Mitchell is facing multiple felony charges, including:
Two counts of second-degree burglary
Two counts of grand larceny
Two counts of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime
Unlawful sale, delivery, or possession of a weapon by certain persons
Authorities say Mitchell broke into the gun store on two separate occasions, stealing approximately 20 firearms, along with ammunition and U.S. currency.
Following his arrest, a search warrant led to the recovery of 14 of the stolen firearms. Mitchell was taken into custody without incident and is currently being held at the Florence County Detention Center, awaiting a bond hearing.
The investigation remains active, and officials say additional charges may be filed.
