PADUCAH, Ky. — A woman is in custody after a collision in the McCracken County courthouse parking lot led to a drug arrest on Thursday, April 24.
According to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and court security officers responded to a traffic accident in the courthouse parking lot at approximately 4:25 p.m. The vehicle involved was operated by Ginger Whitfield, while a passenger, later identified as 29-year-old Kelsey Collins, fled the scene on foot.
Paducah Police Officers later located Collins and discovered she had an active warrant for her arrest. A subsequent investigation revealed illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. Collins was arrested and charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (Methamphetamine) – third offense, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia.
Whitfield, suspected of operating the vehicle under the influence of an unknown substance, was cited in connection with the incident. In addition to her citation for the crash, Whitfield faces charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence, first-degree possession of a controlled substance (Hydrocodone), failure to produce insurance, first-degree wanton endangerment, and second-degree wanton endangerment.
Both individuals were taken into custody following the investigation.
