In a significant breakthrough, Kohima police have apprehended Kekietuo, the suspect behind a string of high-profile burglaries, including the daring theft of nearly Rs 1 crore from the Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) office earlier this month.
At a press briefing held at the Superintendent of Police’s office, Additional SP and PRO K Soriso Quinker NPS revealed that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed to investigate the high-stakes burglary at the KMC office on June 3, 2025. The SIT utilized a combination of advanced forensic technology, digital surveillance, and human intelligence to work tirelessly over two weeks to identify and capture the culprit.
Kohima police noted that suspicious spending habits by Kekietuo after the KMC theft raised red flags. This led to further investigation and surveillance, culminating in his arrest. During interrogation, Kekietuo confessed to carrying out 11 major burglaries throughout Kohima since August 2023, with the total stolen amount estimated at Rs 1.5 crore.
