MIAMI — Miami police have arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting that took place earlier this month at a food store in Coconut Grove.

Keith Leebrooks Wilson, 33, of Coral Gables, was taken into custody on Friday for allegedly killing 30-year-old Robert Denardes Whittle Jr. on August 6 at Ike’s Food Center, located at 3374 Douglas Road.

According to the arrest warrant, officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert just before 6:30 p.m., where they found Whittle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he died about an hour later.

Surveillance footage reportedly captured Wilson, a frequent customer of the store, arriving on a stand-up motorized scooter, entering the store, and opening fire on Whittle. Authorities later used facial recognition technology to identify Wilson as the suspect.

No motive for the shooting has been publicly disclosed.

Wilson was arrested in Opa-locka and is currently being held without bond on a second-degree murder charge, according to jail records.
