A tense three-hour standoff in Silver Springs ended with the arrest of Keith Andrew Roach, 38, and Christopher Lyons, 31, on Wednesday, according to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office. The incident unfolded when Roach and Lyons engaged in a dispute with law enforcement, leading to a standoff with multiple children inside their home.
At approximately 6:33 p.m., Lyon County deputies stopped a vehicle driven by Lyons in the 2700 block of Toiyabe Street. While the deputies were issuing a citation, Roach emerged from his residence and began confronting them. Roach was reportedly yelling at the officers to stop “harassing” people and was recording the situation. Additional officers arrived at the scene, prompting Roach to retreat into his home.
Roach then threatened to ram the deputies’ patrol car with his truck before returning inside his residence. Authorities set up a perimeter and made several attempts to contact Roach, who claimed he would retrieve a firearm. Roach remained defiant, refusing to comply with officers’ commands to exit the home.
After nearly three hours, Roach came out of the house and was arrested. During the standoff, Roach reportedly stood behind his children and shouted at the deputies through a window, preventing them from leaving the house. The children were safely released to their mother after being evaluated by authorities.
Roach faces charges including child abuse/endangerment, intimidating law enforcement, misuse of the emergency 911 system, and obstructing an investigation. His bail is set at $88,640. Lyons was also arrested and charged with obstructing the investigation, with bail set at $1,140.
Both men were booked into the Lyon County Jail.
