Keaston Keiwan Keels Charged with Insurance Fraud in S.C.

Williamsburg man accused of false claim on stolen truck

WILLIAMSBURG COUNTY, SC — The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) has charged Keaston Keiwan Keels, 34, with insurance fraud after he allegedly filed a false claim involving his vehicle.

According to SLED spokesperson Renée Wunderlich, Keels is accused of submitting a fraudulent insurance claim valued between $2,000 and $10,000 to Geico Insurance. The claim stated that his 2013 Chevrolet Silverado was stolen on March 11, 2024, while he was out of town.

Keels also filed a false grand larceny motor vehicle report with the Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office as part of the alleged scam.

The investigation was initiated at the request of the South Carolina Department of Insurance. Keels is currently being held at the Williamsburg County Detention Center.

The South Carolina Department of Insurance is prosecuting the case.
