MECHANICSVILLE, Md. – During an early morning burglary investigation in Lexington Park on June 8, 2025, St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s deputies encountered a separate incident involving a suspicious vehicle in the area of Old Horse Landing Road and Mount Zion Church Road in Mechanicsville.
The driver, later identified as 25-year-old Kazon King Cassion, who has no fixed address, refused to stop for deputies and initiated a pursuit that crossed into Charles County.
Officers from the Charles County Sheriff’s Office deployed stop sticks to disable the fleeing vehicle’s tires, successfully bringing it to a halt near Maryland Route 488. Cassion was then taken into custody without incident by St. Mary’s County deputies.
Authorities confirmed through Maryland databases that the vehicle Cassion was driving had been reported stolen in Washington, D.C.
Cassion now faces 17 charges, including:
Unlawful taking of a motor vehicle
Theft valued between $1,500 and $25,000
Reckless driving
Multiple traffic violations
He was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Leonardtown and is currently being held without bond.
