SACRAMENTO, Calif. — On Saturday afternoon, Sacramento police investigated a shoplifting incident at Ulta, leading to the arrest of two suspects with prior theft records.

Officers tracked down the suspects’ vehicle and contacted the occupants, Kayla Thomson, 31, and Freddie Uptain, 36. Inside, police discovered the stolen merchandise along with a collection of mail belonging to roughly a dozen residents from the Gold River and Rancho Cordova areas. Several victims confirmed they had fallen victim to identity theft.

Thomson and Uptain were booked on charges of petty theft with priors, conspiracy, and identity theft. Authorities are continuing the investigation, working to return the recovered mail to its rightful owners.

Police noted that the suspects had a history of prior shoplifting incidents, proving that some people never miss a sequel.
