BUNNELL, Fla. – A professional home cleaner in Bunnell has been arrested for allegedly stealing jewelry and other valuables from her clients’ homes and pawning them, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) announced on Thursday.
Kayla Conner, 38, worked for Alicia’s Cleaning Service and is accused of targeting at least two clients by stealing items during cleaning visits in August. One client reported that jewelry, a driver’s license, and bank cards had gone missing shortly after Conner cleaned his home.
A second victim soon came forward, also reporting missing jewelry around the same timeframe. FCSO detectives linked Conner to both homes and confirmed she was the cleaner assigned to each at the time of the reported thefts.
Investigators say Conner later pawned the stolen items at local shops. Both victims stated she was a new employee of Alicia’s Cleaning Service when the thefts occurred.
Conner was arrested on Tuesday and faces multiple charges, including:
Grand theft from a dwelling (over $40 and over $100)
Grand theft from a person over 65 years old (over $300)
False verification of ownership to a secondhand dealer
Dealing in stolen property
Violation of probation
She remains in custody without bond at the Flagler County Jail as of Friday.
Sheriff Rick Staly emphasized the importance of hiring trusted service providers:
“Residents hire cleaning services to help make their homes cleaner, not to have their valuables stolen,” he said. “Thanks to the quick work of our detectives, this thief is now behind bars.”
Conner has a prior arrest from April 3, 2025, for grand theft over $5,000 and obstruction without violence, spending two days in jail. She resides on Cherry Lane in Bunnell, according to arrest records.
Sheriff Staly reminded residents to ensure cleaning services conduct proper background checks and maintain insurance to protect clients.
