Police in Kaushambi on Sunday arrested three men in connection with the murder of a 55-year-old villager in Chak Khudayaganj.
The arrested accused have been identified as Ramdas Patel, Ram Kishore Prajapati, and Manmohan Singh Rajput, residents of Soraon and Kaushambi. During interrogation, the trio allegedly confessed to killing Ram Murat and dumping his body near a field.
According to police, the prime accused Ramdas Patel suspected that the victim had stolen crops from his field. This suspicion reportedly led to heated arguments between the two.
Investigators said that on March 12, the victim Ram Murat, who had allegedly consumed liquor, went to Ramdas Patel’s field and demanded that his crop be returned. The confrontation escalated into violence.
In a fit of rage, Ramdas Patel allegedly attacked Ram Murat with a flat pan, killing him on the spot. Police said he later took the help of his associates, Ram Kishore Prajapati and Manmohan Singh Rajput, to dispose of the body in another field before fleeing.
Following the investigation, Kaushambi police arrested the three suspects and launched further inquiries into the case.
