Katrisarai Gang Busted by Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police

15 Arrested in Interstate Cyber Fraud Operation

The Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police dismantled a well-organised interstate cyber fraud gang, known as the Katrisarai Gang of Bihar, arresting 15 members and seizing electronic devices, SIM cards, and a luxury vehicle.

Incident Details

On January 10, 2026, police raided a house at Plot No. 2171/16, Tankapani Road, Badagada, owned by Debasish Tripathy, a key mastermind.

12 members were arrested initially and remanded to court on January 11.

Interrogation led to the arrest of three additional members: Chandan Kumar (40), Pankaj Kumar (38), and Rishi Kumar (27), all from Katrisarai, Nalanda district, Bihar.

Gang’s Modus Operandi

Main orchestrators: Debasish Tripathy, Bitu @ Arjun, Bijaya, and Pankaj.

The gang procured customer databases from e-commerce platforms such as Naaptol and Meesho through agents in Bihar.

They arranged mule bank accounts to transfer defrauded money.

Fake, pre-activated SIM cards were obtained using forged documents to operate social media accounts and make calls.

The gang’s operation was interstate, targeting victims across multiple states.
