A Missouri woman has been arrested after authorities say a pharmacy employee stole more than $25,000 from a business in Corning, Arkansas.
According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Department, deputies began investigating the case on February 9, 2026, after Dennis Cate, owner of Cates Pharmacy, reported that an employee was suspected of stealing money from the store.
Later that day, investigators met with Cate at the office of Michael Vinson, a CPA in Corning, to review the results of an internal audit and discuss the process used to determine the total amount of missing funds. Authorities advised the business to continue examining financial records and receipts so additional documentation could be subpoenaed if necessary.
On March 6, investigators requested an arrest warrant for Katlyn Marie Grimaldo, 28, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
Authorities contacted Grimaldo on March 9 and asked her to come to the sheriff’s office for questioning. According to deputies, she initially declined but later agreed after being informed that Clay County officials could coordinate with authorities in Butler County, Missouri to contact her at her workplace.
Deputies said Grimaldo was read her Miranda rights before being questioned about discrepancies in business receipts. During the interview, she requested an attorney and indicated she planned to leave. At that point, investigators informed her that an arrest warrant had already been issued.
Grimaldo was taken into custody and booked into the Clay County Detention Center on a charge of theft of property greater than $25,000.
Curtis Hitt, a district judge, set Grimaldo’s bond at $75,000.
