NORWICH, N.Y. — A police investigation into alleged animal cruelty in Norwich led to the discovery of drugs, weapons, and multiple arrests, according to the City of Norwich Police Department.

On September 12, NPD detectives began probing reports of possible animal abuse at 7 Park Street. Following information gathering, detectives secured a search warrant and executed it at the property.

Officers seized approximately 186 grams of methamphetamine, a digital scale, packaging materials, and drug paraphernalia. They also confiscated a firearm, metal knuckles, and other dangerous weapons.

Veterinarians from Pet Street Animal Hospital examined the cats found on-site. The animals were subsequently transferred to the Chenango County SPCA with support from the Delaware County Humane Society.

City code enforcement condemned the residence due to hazardous living conditions.

Several individuals were arrested:

Jordan D. Bates, 36, is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a weapon, and obstruction of governmental administration.

Hunter J. Bishop, 23, and Marc A. Kimble, 47, were charged with criminal possession of a weapon.

All suspects were arraigned at Chenango County Central Arraignment Court and remain held at the Chenango County Correctional Facility pending further legal action.
