In a horrifying incident on the outskirts of Bengaluru, police arrested a man identified as Kasim, a 35-year-old construction labourer, for allegedly killing his two nephews and leaving a third critically injured at Hebbagodi on Saturday.
According to Additional Commissioner of Police (East) Ramesh Banoth, the brutal attack took place between 1.15 p.m. and 1.30 p.m., when the children’s parents were away at work. Kasim, who lived in the same house with his mother and the victims’ family, allegedly assaulted the three boys—aged 9, 7, and 5—using a hammer, chisel, and metal rods.
“Two of the children died on the spot, while the third has been admitted to hospital in critical condition,” Banoth said. He added that Kasim was “giving contradictory reasons” for the attack, including claims of feeling neglected at home. Police are currently assessing his mental condition.
A family friend claimed that Kasim stuffed cloth into the children’s mouths before attacking them. Neighbours, alarmed by the noise, tried to intervene but Kasim allegedly refused to open the door.
The accused has been taken into custody and is undergoing interrogation. Police said further investigations are underway to determine the exact motive and mental health status of the suspect.
