The Kashigaon Police Crime Detection Team has arrested three individuals involved in a house burglary, recovering stolen gold ornaments, cash, and burglary tools.
According to police, the incident occurred on the morning of December 30, 2025, when Shraddha Anil Shelar, a homemaker from Hatkesh, Kashigaon, left her home with her husband Anil Shelar to file nomination papers for the Ward No. 13 municipal councillor election at Ramdev Park, Mira Road. Upon returning around 1:30 pm, they found their house broken into and household items scattered.
A check of the iron cupboard revealed 43 grams of gold, including a chain, bracelet, earrings, nose ring, and pendant, valued at approximately Rs2.16 lakh, along with Rs20,000 in cash missing.
The Kashigaon Police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for theft and house-breaking.
During the investigation, police tracked the accused to Bhayandar Railway Station, where they were attempting to flee to another state. The arrested were identified as:
Irfan Yusuf Khan (25)
Sagar Dilip Soni (23)
Ajay Vijay Torne (19)
All three are residents of the Mira Road area, with Irfan originally from Nepal. Police recovered the stolen gold, cash, and burglary tools from them. Further investigation revealed that Irfan and Sagar had prior criminal records for theft and house-breaking at Nayanagar, Navghar, and Mira Road police stations, and had previously served jail sentences.
Police continue to probe the case to ascertain if the accused were involved in other burglary incidents in the region.
