KARNES CITY, Texas — Authorities arrested a Karnes City man in connection with the alleged theft of funds from a local Masonic Lodge.
On February 2, 2026, the Karnes County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division, in coordination with the Texas Department of Public Safety-Criminal Investigations Division, executed an arrest at the 200 block of E. Broadway St. in Karnes City.
Joseph Avalos was taken into custody under an arrest warrant for the criminal offense of misapplication of fiduciary property, a felony under Texas Penal Code, chapter 32.45. Avalos has since completed the magistration process.
Authorities are continuing their investigation and are working to identify any additional victims, which could result in further charges.
